When most people are asked the difference between Indica and Sativa strains, you will likely get an answer like this: Indica strains are going to have more of a downer effect, hence the nickname “in da couch”, and Sativa strains will have an upper effect. Although this does hold some merit, it is not true for all strains or individuals. Some people have a reverse effect when trying a new strain, and those who have not developed a tolerance will likely have a similar experience with both
So… What is the Difference?
Sativa strains are typically described as energetic and uplifting. They can assist with focus and creativity, which is why they are considered as more of a “daytime” strain.
Indica strains are considered more of a “night-time” strain, and are associated with feelings of relaxation, euphoria, and sleepiness.
You will also see a large variety of “Hybrids” in your local provisioning center. These strains are cross bred with both Indica and Sativa genetics. Each hybrid will have a varying percentage of each, so if you are looking for something to help you sleep, you will want to look for a higher Indica percentage in your Hybrid. Today most strains fall into this category, as you will rarely see a true Indica or Sativa. The best bet is to speak with a budtender or try a few different strains to find the one that works for you!
